Keep it simple.

I nearly wore out my delete key as I labored to craft with eloquent words and brilliant allegory a meaningful piece to inspire something great in all of you. Then, my wife, being my voice of reason, caused me to toss that all away. In her words, “I suggest you keep it simple.” So, I will. I realized the sum of all my writing boiled down to two simple words…

Be kind.

That’s it. Simple. Two unassuming words in of themselves, when married together, they’re powerfully transformative. Imagine what our world would look like—what your sliver of the world could look like—if no matter the circumstance, good or bad, we chose to simply react with kindness. Or better yet, what it would mean to be proactively kind. Unexpected kindness has the power to diffuse situations, to open doors and build bridges, to transform hearts and lives, and ultimately change the world. It’s not always an easy choice, but it’s undoubtedly the best choice. So, keep it simple and choose to be kind.

Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. — Proverbs 3:3

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. —Luke 6:35

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. —Ephesians 4:32
