A word to the wise.

Of all the treasures in this world that you possess, which do you think is among the greatest? It isn’t cash, or gold, or property, or any physical possession for that matter. The greatest treasure one can ask for is wisdom.

Wisdom protects you from stumbling into trouble. She helps steer you out of difficult situations. Wisdom gives you the right words to say, and often more importantly, keeps you from saying the wrong ones. She gives you perspective, which leads to direction, which then provides you with peace that ultimately leads to joy.

Wisdom makes it easy to truly love others, as to live with her is to have perspective and to truly feel empathy. And with that mix, she gives you powerful tools to help pull others to safety. Wisdom is a marvelous treasure that, as she is freely shared, multiplies and increases.

Of all the treasures you could possess, this world contains almost nothing as great as wisdom. Purposefully seek to better know her so that she can lead you in the good ways of life.

Some of the greatest practical wisdom is recorded by Solomon in the book of Proverbs. Although many of them are simply a sentence or two, they contain so much power, truth, depth and perspective. Whether you believe in God or not, I passionately encourage you to at least read a few of them, give them thoughtful consideration, and see if they don’t change the way you view your life and the situations it brings.
